Annual Bazaar

The Annual Charity Bazaar is the major fundraising event of the Diplomatic Spouses Group. The 2010 DSG Bazaar will take place on Saturday November 20th at the IST Secondary School from 12 – 5pm. It is also an opportunity for diplomatic missions in Tanzania to show-case their culture, food, handicrafts and other goods. The DSG Bazaar has become a highlight of the diplomatic calendar of Dar es Salaam.

With non-stop entertainment, a wide choice of food and a range of children’s activities, the bazaar is a great event for the whole family. A Grand Raffle, with prizes generously donated by local businesses is a highlight of the day.

The DSG Bazaar generally takes place in November and in recent year’s has been hosted by the International School of Tanganyika at the Secondary School Campus. The major sponsor of the bazaar is KLM.

Last year’s bazaar raised over 60 million Tanzanian shillings. This money is disbursed by the DSG Projects Committee to support Tanzanian organizations working with women, children and those who are physically or mentally challenged.

The Bazaar is organized by the DSG Fundraising Committee. Serving on this Committee is a great way to contribute to the work of the DSG and to get to know the diplomatic community and the local business community. With a wide range of roles to perform, there is a place for everyone to use their expertise and skills.
