2008 DSG Bazaar

Mama Kikwete visits the country stallsThe DSG 2008 Charity Bazaar, held on Saturday 15th November at the IST Secondary School, raised a record 62,000,000 Tanzanian Shillings. All this money was disbursed to local initiatives which support Tanzania’s most vulnerable citizens, most often women, children and the physically or mentally challenged.

The Bazaar was opened by H.E. Mama Salma Kikwete who then  toured the country stalls and enjoyed a sample of the entertainment programme. Over 35 embassies and other diplomatic missions took part and  over 2500 people came through the gates.

Maji Matitu entertain the crowdsVisitors could taste food and drink from 12 countries and enjoy 4 hours of non-stop entertainment, starring Tanzania House of Talent, Maji Matitu Steel Band, Holland House Band, dancers from India, Ireland and the US and Chinese Martial Arts. Kids were kept busy with a Treasure Hunt , cartoons, cookie decorating and a  variety of games including Hoopla and target football.
